Kathleen Ann Delaney

Kathleen Ann Delaney, age 76, passed away on October 24, 2025, at HaysMed, Hays, Kansas. She was born on May 15, 1949, in Hays, the daughter of Lyle and Betty (Poe) Henry.

Kathy married Dean Delaney on September 16, 1966, in Ness City. After a year of marriage, she continued her schooling and graduated from Ness City High School in 1969. Kathy and Dean made their home on the farm in Lane County near Alamota where they raised their three children. Kathy was elected to the Lane County Board of Commissioners where she served for over 12 years. Kathy was also a dispatcher for the Lane County Sheriff for 15 years.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Dean; her sons, Deone Delaney of Alamota and Justin Delaney and his wife, Liz, of Ness City; her brother, Dale Henry of Hays; and six grandchildren, Spencer and Shane Wesley, Sierra Delaney, Wyatt, Matthew and his wife, Brooke, and Hannah Delaney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shelly Lynn Wesley; and her brother, Alan Henry.

A funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church, Ness City, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Wednesday, October 29 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
