Kathleen M. "Kay" Doty, 91, of Dubuque died Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:45 am Thursday, October 9 at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Ghost Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at Noon.
Kay was born July 1,1934 in Keiler, WI., daughter of Ralph and Imelda (Kaiser) Droeszler. She graduated from North Garryowen High School.
On October 9, 1956, she married Harlan Doty Sr. He preceded her in death in 2018.
Kay worked at Holy Ghost School for 50 years, mainly working in the cafeteria.
Kay was very passionate about her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She attended countless sporting events, concerts and programs and loved nothing more than talking about their lives and accomplishments with obvious pride in her voice.
She enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Union Hall and going to bingo. She also enjoyed family vacations to Brainerd, MN every summer. She also loved vacations spent on the Mississippi River in their pontoon houseboat with all her kids. She also enjoyed bowling in doubles league with Harlan Sr.
Holidays were always a great time at Kay's house. She loved having her family over and cooking delicious meals for them. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her husband, Harlan and enjoyed 62 years of wonderful years with him until his passing.
She was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Church, where she volunteered in various capacities, including helping with Bingo.
Kay was also treasurer for Local #94 Women's Auxiliary for many years.
Kay is survived by six children, Harlan (Becky) Doty Jr. of Dubuque, Jim (Shari) Doty of Dubuque, Jil (Mark) Van Cleave of Dubuque, Jeff (Shelly) Doty of Altoona, Jodi (Colin) Sweeney of Dubuque and Sandy "Babe" (Jeff) Wall of Holman, WI; grandchildren, Jake (Morgan) and Luke (Mollie); Eric (Courtney), Ryan (Anna) and Megan (Austin); Liz (Tim), Haley (Alex),and Conner; Caitlin (Steffen), Carson, DJ and Austin (Louise); Tiffany, Dylan (Natalie) and Morgan (Dakota); and Mikalya, Kelsey (Jake) and Emily (Drake); and many great grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Patsy (Al) Chamberlain, Helen (Merle) Theisen and Mary (Frank) Klaas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Donnie Droeszler, Shirley Goetzinger, LuMae Cavanaugh and Janise Ambrosy.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staffs of Hospice of Dubuque, Eagle Point Place and Hawkeye Care Center for their loving care.
