Kathleen "Kassie" Dompier Guglielmino was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 30, 1931. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on May 24, 2023. She always said her goal was to live to be 100, but in her last days she expressed that was " ready for the
Lord to take her any day".
Kassie spent her early childhood in Detroit and left with her parents and siblings for California, enjoying sunny San Diego until her parents sold their business and headed north. They bought land and built the family ranch near Northport, WA. This was a bit of a shock for 13 year old
Kassie but she adapted and quickly made friends. She loved going to the grange dances in town and that was where she was destined to meet a dashing older boy, Don Guglielmino. She would lovingly recount that at first she thought he was arrogant but he eventually got her to
agree to go to a dance with him. That was the start of their decades long relationship, celebrating their 57 year anniversary before Don's passing. Together they had six children, Jeanne, Susan, Don Jr, Pete, Tom, and Joe and then started a cattle ranch on Flat Creek. Not only did she love the ranch but she also loved her shopping trips to the city and could often be seen driving her powder blue Cadillac at top speeds down Flat Creek Road. Thankfully, her boys bought her a radar detector to help keep the speeding tickets to a minimum.
When Kassie wasn't busy raising children she worked as a nurse at the Colville Clinic and went back to school to get her esthetician's license. She owned multiple skin care clinics around Washington state. While she loved her work, her greatest love was her large and very close
family. She could be seen at various sporting events for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and she loved a good party, often dancing into the late hours even in her later years. She radiated beauty inside and out and got a kick out of hearing shock when new people learned her age. She enjoyed traveling and visiting loved ones, many times packing up her beloved shih tzu, Benji, and hitting the road. Hawaii always held a special place in her heart as she adored warm, sunny weather.
Kassie loved a good martini or glass of vino and never had a bad word to say about anybody (even when her granddaughters encouraged her!) She always had the type of home where you felt completely comfortable rummaging around in her fridge or pantry for a snack without asking. If you needed a warm jacket she had 12 to offer you. Her family loved walking into her house and being greeted by the smells of strong coffee and the hint of bacon in the morning, or the delicious aroma of pasta and a good red in the evening. She was the best shopping partner
and equally loved finding a bargain or splurging on a big purchase. In fact, if she found something she liked, she would go back and buy the same item in every color. You could not walk by Kassie without being enveloped into one the most genuinely warm hugs and the words,
"I love ya, baby" spoken sweetly. She was never in a hurry and some of the best memories were made drinking coffee huddled under blankets on her couch until 2pm. Good books, Hallmark Christmas movies and decorating for the holidays were also some of her favorite things. She believed in using real butter, real sugar, and that Sander's chocolate fudge sauce on ice cream was one of the best treats around. She never missed a hair or nail appointment or forgot a birthday. Kassie always smelled faintly like a department store perfume counter and strongly believed that it was never too early to start happy hour. Being at her family's guest ranch, Bull Hill, was one of her favorite places and her pride for the work her sons and grandsons put into the ranch was evident to all who knew her. Her family had her for almost 92 years and feel so deeply blessed and grateful for those years, and yet at the end, they still feel like it just wasn't enough time.
Kassie is preceded in death by her husband, Don, parents Alfred and Frances (Bugg) Dompier, siblings Jim Dompier, Betty McIrvin (Dompier), Dan Dompier, children Susan Johnson (Guglielmino), Tom Guglielmino, and Pete Guglielmino.
She is survived by brother, Jerry Dompier and wife, Sherry; children Jeanne Vaagen (Guglielmino) and husband, Dennis, Don Guglielmino and wife, Patty, and Joe Guglielmino and wife, Erika; grandchildren Brent Beardslee, Jodi Finley (Beardslee), Jenny Young (Beardslee), Sam Beardslee, Tucker Guglielmino, Hunter Guglielmino, Kassie Samuels (Guglielmino), Madeline Guglielmino, Travis Guglielmino, Joe Vanveckhoven,Lindsey Duoa (Guglielmino), Nick Guglielmino, Nolan Guglielmino, Toni Boschee (Johnson), Buck Johnson; 32 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, and her shih tzu, Benji.
