Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. - Snow Shoe on Nov. 11, 2025.
Kathleen J. "Kathy" Hoover, 69, of Pine Glen, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home. Born on May 25, 1956, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Buck) Oswalt of Curwensville and the late George Oswalt. On May 18, 1974, in Winburne, she married David T. Hoover, who survives at home.
Kathy attended West Branch Area High School. She was a devoted homemaker and stay-at-home mother to her five children, and for many years she drove for R&A Bussing, providing transportation for seniors at the Karthaus Senior Center.
Kathy enjoyed needlework, puzzle books, and western movies-especially loved those starring John Wayne-as well as paranormal investigation shows. She liked horses, cigarillos and Orange Crush soda. She looked forward to and found great joy in spending time with her family and friends.
Those who knew Kathy best will remember her for her love, loyalty, and perseverance despite health challenges, as well as her genuine and down-to-earth nature. She was feisty, funny, and unapologetically herself. Her warmth, strength, and presence will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 51 years, David T. Hoover, Sr.; four children: David T. Hoover, Jr. of Clearfield, Jennifer A. Hoover of Clearfield, Jason L. Hoover of Pine Glen, and Joseph A. Hoover and his wife, Melissa, of Drifting.
She is also survived by five siblings: Jerry Oswalt of Clearfield; Deborah Oswalt of Curwensville; Kevin Oswalt and his life companion, Vicki Cowfer, of Osceola Mills; Michael Oswalt and his wife, Lisa, of Clearfield; and Michelle Endicott and her husband, Chris, of Clearfield.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: eight granddaughters-Josalyne, Gentry, Katelynn, Sidney, Savannah, Shianna, Shalee, and Cecilia-and four grandsons-Storm, Gage, Jasper, and Otis; as well as two great-grandsons, Hazen and Dekan, and two great-granddaughters, Aria and Evelynn. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her father, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Douglas R. Hoover (1986), and one brother, David Oswalt.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Kathy will be laid to rest beside her son, Doug, at Gillingham Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Glen Volunteer Fire Company, 1003 Pine Glen Rd., Karthaus, PA 16845.
