Kathleen "Kathy" Carol Humphreys was born on June 28, 1947, in Hawaii, to John Emerson Fitzsimmons and Donna Jean Carroll. She grew up in Southern California, living in Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and Costa Mesa before settling in Laguna Woods.
Kathy married Andrew "Phillip" Humphreys, and together they shared many years of love and companionship until his passing in 2019. Though she had no children of her own, she treasured her role as aunt and godmother to her niece, Heather Weingardt, forming a special and lifelong bond.
For more than 25 years, Kathy served as a guidance counselor at Edison High School, where she dedicated her career to supporting and encouraging students to reach their potential. Her care, wisdom, and kindness left a lasting mark on generations of young people.
A devout Catholic, Kathy attended church faithfully, finding strength and joy in her faith. Like her brother Mike, she was a proud Irish Catholic and an enthusiastic Notre Dame football fan-Saturdays during football season were filled with excitement and tradition.
Kathy was known for her deep generosity and selflessness, always putting others before herself. She supported numerous causes close to her heart, including the public arts, humanitarian organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Red Cross, and various animal rights efforts.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her as a compassionate, giving soul who lived her values each day. She passed away on August 6, 2025, in Laguna Hills, California, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and service to others.
