Kathleen Johnson went to be with Jesus in Lynden, Washington on November 17th at the age of 90, due to complications from Parkinsons' disease.
Kathleen was born to Melvin and Mary Kathleen Hord on March 19, 1935, in Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Robin Bell, and brother Ric Hord. She is survived by her son Carl Johnson, daughter-in-law Nancy, grandchildren Alexi Speedie, Angela Brenner, and Breanne Krabbendam and their spouses. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Ayva, Kayla, Emma, Hailey, Lewis, Adley, Isla, and Isabelle.
During her lifetime she lived in Electric City, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Whitefish, Montana; and Seattle, Washington where she graduated from Highline High School. She also attended Washington State University.
She married Charles Johnson on September 1, 1955, and added to their family with the birth of Carl on November 7, 1956. Carl was followed by three more boys that did not survive birth.
The Johnson family lived most of their life in their house on the water at Three Tree Point, where she loved to sit and watch the water and activity on South Puget Sound. It was fitting that her last place of residence was on the water at Wiser Lake.
Kathleen was first a wife and mother. However, she was very active in her church and women's ministries and was a past president of Women's Aglow Fellowship. She was also able to realize her lifelong goal of visiting Israel.
Art and music were very important to her as she worked with paints, carving, and an attempt at pottery. She operated a floral design business, decorating for weddings, holidays, and special events. Kathleen had an amazing voice and loved to sing whenever she was given the chance. She was also part of a bowling league and went on to become the 1958-1959 champion.
Her greatest disappointment in life was the loss of her three boys at their birth and that she was unable to have a daughter.
Kathleen was much beloved by those who knew her. She was always gracious and kind, even during the challenges she faced in life.
A family and friends funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1st at 12:30 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Home followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at 2:00pm.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
