ANSONVILLE – On Thursday, July 11, 2024, Mrs. Kathleen “Kat” Jarrell Tyson, 79, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health CMC Main in Charlotte with her family at her bedside.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 15, 2024,at Red Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Leavitt Funeral Home.
Kat was born June 22, 1945, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Reid Franklin Jarrell and Ina Mae Wilhoit Jarrell. She was a graduate of Anson High School.
She worked for many years as a seamstress in textiles in and around Anson County and for 20 years following that she worked with Anson County Schools as a substitute teacher. During holidays and special occasions she would work with Thompson’s Flowers and Gifts in Ansonville making deliveries.
Kat loved her family dearly and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and helping others in the community by taking them to doctor appointments and grocery shopping.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Jarrell Lineberry of Raleigh, Billy Wayne Jarrell (Tasha) of Monroe, Tammy Tyson Lemmons (Jack) of Norwood and Jamie Tyson (Mandy) of Ansonville; her grandchildren, Eddie Lemmons of Norwood, Heather Lemmons Hildreth of Rockingham, Dimitri Jarrell of Wadesboro, Danta Jarrell of Monroe, Davante Jarrell and Ashley Jarrell both of Charlotte, Ethan Lineberry and Kendall Lineberry both of Raleigh and Kayleigh Tyson and Rameses Tyson both of Ansonville; her great-grandson, M.J. Hildreth; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Janie Randall and Smokey Tyson (Catherine) both of Ansonville, Nancy McMillan (Jim) and Geraldine Johnson both of Norwood, Dot Fitton of Albemarle and Katherine Tyson of Polkton; special family friends who she loved like her sons, Scott Thompson of Ansonville and Bobby Burr of Wadesboro; Trinity Boone who she loved like a granddaughter; her beloved Chihuahua, Minnie; and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimbo Tyson; her granddaughter, Kennedy Jarrell and her nephews, Homer “Tiger” Jarrell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
