Kathleen Winkel League, age 81, passed away on November 16, 2025.
Born on August 23, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, she brought light, humor, and love into the lives of all who knew her.
Kathleen earned her bachelor's degree in teaching from the University of Maryland. Teaching was her first calling, and she touched many lives in the classroom. She went on to work at the post office, bringing the same warmth, patience, and care to everyone she encountered.
She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and often found peace in bird watching and the simple beauty of nature. A lifelong learner, she loved reading and challenging herself with puzzles, especially Sudoku and Kakuro. Known for her sharp wit, unfiltered humor, and signature sarcasm, Kathleen had a remarkable gift for bringing laughter and joy wherever she went.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer League Young, her son-in-law, Edward V. Young III, her biological nieces, Melissa Linthicum and Mindy O'Malley, her biological nephew, Thomas Kimmitt IV, and her grandsons, Logan and Cameron, who were the light of her life. Loved by all who knew her, Kathleen cherished the relationships she shared with her family and friends and carried those connections close to her heart.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, John S. League IV, her son, John S. League V, her sister, Veronica Winkel Kimmitt, and her parents, Vernon Winkel and Ruth Melamet Winkel.
A memorial service will be held at St. Ursula Roman Catholic Church, 8801 Harford Road, Parkville, on Tuesday, November 25, at 12:30 P.M., followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at Liberatore's, 5005 Honeygo Center Drive, Perry Hall. All are welcome to attend and honor Kathleen's life.
