Kathleen Marie Mitchell, born on May 9, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on January 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Kathleen was a beloved member of her community, remembered for her easy-going nature and the warmth she spread to everyone around her.
Kathleen began her career at Resurrection Church, eventually moving on to Assumption High School, where she dedicated 27 years of her life before retiring. Her commitment to her work and the people she served left a lasting impact on many, contributing to the well-being of countless people in her life.
Family was always at the heart of Kathleen's life. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard Allen Mitchell, Sr. Together, they formed a partnership rooted in love and joy. Kathleen's pride and joy were her children: daughter Lisa Dischinger (Chris), and sons Jeffrey Walter Mitchell (Michele) and Richard Allen Mitchell, Jr. (Kristi). She cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, Ryan Dischinger (Ellie), Kara Dischinger (Russ), Paul Mitchell (Alexis), Ellen Mitchell, Richard Allen Mitchell, III (Liz), and Kaitlin Sams (Cain), as well as her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Lily, Jasper, Penelope, and Richie IV. Each of them was a source of immense joy in her life.
Kathleen's siblings, Dianne Forst (Ray) and Mary Jo Clark, also survive her, preserving her connection to a cherished family legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Rita June (Putnam) Murr, and her brother, Fred Murr.
In her leisure time, Kathleen found happiness in simple pleasures—playing with her grandbabies, listening to music, particularly her favorite artist Elvis, dancing, and enjoying the thrill of playing slot machines. Her vibrant spirit and love for life endeared her to many, making her memory one that will be cherished and celebrated.
Kathleen Marie Mitchell leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
