Kathleen Margavio Mitchell

Kathleen Margavio Mitchell passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the age of 70. Kathy, as she was known by her family and friends, was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of River Ridge, Louisiana. For the past 25 years, she greatly enjoyed her work as a realtor and found it rewarding to help her clients navigate the complexities of the real estate market.

Kathy was not only a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, but also a passionate supporter of all those whom she cared about. She had a strong sense of justice, taking any and all opportunities to stand up for what was right-not simply for the outcome but for the sake of doing so itself. She passed with a profound sense of pride and accomplishment having witnessed the successes of the family she had raised. Surrounded by her loved ones, she departed in peace knowing that her memory would live on and believing with the utmost confidence that the fulfillment of her legacy could not be in better hands.

Kathy, born May 4, 1955, was preceded in death by her beloved father Joseph Charles Margavio and mother Alice Scallan Margavio. She is survived by her loving husband Anthony Paul Mitchell Sr.; daughter Shannon Mitchell Kives & husband Byron Patrick Kives; son Anthony Paul Mitchell Jr.; and grandchildren Matthew Aaron Kives, Tyler Andrew Kives, & Kelly Elizabeth Kives. She is also survived by her sister Deborah Margavio and cousin Judy Gaspard Gentry.

A private visitation, mass, and graveside service will be held in New Orleans at Greenwood Funeral Home and Cemetery.
