Dr. Kathleen Ann Murphy

Kathleen Ann Murphy, MD, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Bedminster, New Jersey on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025. Born in Bayonne, NJ to Thomas and Kitty Murphy, she was the eldest of five children (Tom, Sean, Brian, and Sheila). Kathleen raised her family in Westfield, NJ and practiced medicine out of her offices in Westfield, Summit and Rahway. She later moved to Bedminster in 2012.
After attending Holy Family Academy in Bayonne, she was accepted to Cornell University's School of Arts and Sciences, where she was a psychology major and pre-med. After graduating with honors, she was accepted to Georgetown Medical School. After graduating from Georgetown with honors, she was accepted to a medical residency program at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. She met her husband, Victor, while at Georgetown.
When she wasn't practicing medicine, you could find Kathleen running, taking long walks, relaxing at her summer home in Stone Harbor, reading a book, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also cherished annual familytrips to Aruba. As the first practicing female Urologist in New Jersey, she was tremendously dedicated to her patients. She will be remembered for her tireless desire to help others and devotion to her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Victor Bruno, MD, in 2023.
Kathleen is survived by her children; J.B. (and his wife, Rosie); Sean (and his wife, Carina Meyer), Brendan, and Brigid; and grandchildren Finn, Nora, Lina, and Sophia; and beloved dogs Bailey and Tippy.
The visitation will take place on Friday, November 21st from 4pm to 8pm at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090 on Saturday, November 22nd at 10am. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
