Kathleen O'Connell passed away at age 39 on July 9, 2024 in her home in Palatine. Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Mary Flanagan, James "Fred" O'Connell, Florence "Becky" DeLarm, and Robert DeLarm. Kathleen is survived by her parents, Paul and Eliabeth (DeLarm) O'Connell, her siblings, Daniel and Margaret, and her loving husband, Mark Titus.
Kathleen grew up in Evanston, IL and was a bright and active student at Evanston Township High School, where she served as captain of the varsity Water Polo team. She enjoyed summers in Cape Cod with her extended family and close friends. In June of 2017, Kathleen and Mark married in a beautiful ceremony on the water in Dennis, Cape Cod, surrounded by loving friends and family. Her favorite cousin Bob "Spoon" Wotherspoon officiated. The two bought a home and made a life for themselves in Palatine, IL. Kathleen was a loving pet mom to her dog Brady and cats Abby and Tabasco.
Kathleen earned a degree in American Studies from the prestigious University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. After graduating, she was initially hired as a secretary at Frosch Travel Consultant in Deerfield where she worked her way up to the role of Travel Agent. She was named an "A-List Agent" by Travel & Leisure Magazine, and recognized as one of the "Top 30 Under 30" by Travel Agent Magazine. As a successful agent, Kathleen traveled to India, Mexico, Russia, Australia, and South Africa, among other locations.
Kathleen's spirit and energy touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A visitation for Kathleen will be held from 12:30pm-1:30pm with a memorial service beginning at 1:30pm on Saturday, July 27th at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd, Highland Park, IL 60035. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Society for Cruelty Against Animals to honor her memory and love of pets.
