Kathleen (Higgins) Plourd, January 12, 1961- March 02, 2026
Kathleen was born in Concord, CA and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1971. She was a standout athlete at North Valley High School (still holds a track record), played clarinet, rode a unicycle, and grew up in a very loving family. She had her oldest son Seth Dechenne after high school, and they moved to Leavenworth KS in 1990. In 1991 she married Pat Plourd and they started their family life together. The family with Seth and Pat's son Jason grew adding Alex in 1993 and Sam in 1996. As a military family they traveled extensively, moving to several locations. In 1999 while they were stationed at Fort Drum, NY, she placed second in the National Mixed Double Racquet ball tournament. When they were retired from the military they moved back to the Rogue Valley. Kathleen worked a few jobs before she settled into her favorite employment with the Women's Health Center. She worked many years with this wonderful organization, establishing lasting friendships with all the staff. She was also a spin instructor at Club Northwest. Kathleen was a hard worker, loved people and relationships, a great cook, party planner, and never judged people. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer and fought till the end. She never gave up hope, the love for her family and friends, and the belief we will meet again. When she passed, she was surrounded by her boys who she loved and adored.
She is survived by her loving husband Patrick Plourd her son Seth Dechenne and his wife Amy, Alex, Sam and her stepson Jason Plourd. She is also survived by her mother Barbara Burnett, her brother Tom Higgins and his wife Nancy, and her Sister Maureen Higgins. Cherishing her memory for her grandchildren Zachary Dechenne and Freyja Rogue as well as her nieces and nephews: Brad, Jessica, Michael, Ryan, Elliott, and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Higgins in 2003 and her sister Marie Higgins in 2010.
For those that loved this beautiful lady there will be a celebration of life at 1 pm at the Galice Resort on April 11, 2026.
