Kathleen Marie Radziunas

Kathleen Marie (Brooks) Radziunas of Branford, CT passed away Wednesday, April 30th after a valiant battle with glioblastoma-an aggressive and fast growing brain cancer. She was born at Yale New Haven Hospital on February 17th, 1971. She was the cherished daughter of Francis and Catherine (Barnowski) Brooks of North Haven and beloved sister of Frank Brooks of Georgia. She was raised in North Haven, CT where Kathleen was blessed with lifelong friendships from her earliest days.
Kathleen received her Bachelor's degree at University of New Haven and earned her Masters degree in Criminal Justice at John Jay College. Kathleen married Jason Radziunas on May 31, 2002 and they began their life together. She was a Police Officer with Metropolitan Transit Authority and retired as a Sergeant. She was one of the first responders at Ground Zero after the 9/11 terror attacks. She was admired by all who worked with her.
With her shining blue eyes, fancy purses, & fabulous shoes, Kathleen was a force to be reckoned with. She always kept the people she loved close to her and she would do anything for them, especially her children. She was always present in their everyday lives, and was a devoted mother. Her children brought her endless joy, and they feel blessed to have been given such an example of strength and perseverance.
Kathleen is survived by her immediate family, consisting of her loving husband Jason, and her children Jack, Michael, and Jessica. She is also survived by her extended family: her beloved parents, her brother, her in laws Flora (Branford) and Richard (Indiana), her cherished brother and sister in law Eric & Delores, and her nephew Anthony (North Haven).
Kathleen was a shining light to all who knew her. Her spirit lives on and her strength & kindness should serve as an example to us all.
Visiting hours for friends and relatives will be Saturday, May 10th from 4:00 PM -m 7:00 PM at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. At 7:00 PM there will be singing and bagpipes in honor of Kathleen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405.
