Kathleen M. Ropchock (nee Maher), age 82, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was born in Berea, Ohio and had been a resident of Lorain County for over 50 years. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Uniontown and worked previously as a home health care provider for many years. Kathleen loved nature, bird watching and enjoyed long walks in past years with her husband and their dog. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, music, animals, and most of all spending time with her cherished family which brought her the greatest joy over the years.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Mark) McCullough, Doreen (Paul) Bailey, Dawn (Jonas) Burke; sons George J. Ropchock Jr., Timothy Ropchock; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Alice Boehnlein, Mary Jane Salvano; sister-in-law Darlene Laney, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George J. Sr.; parents James and Dorothy Maher; brothers James Maher Jr., Robert Maher, Richard Maher; and sister Agnes Kaufman.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown 44685, where family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rev. David R. Durkee will officiate. Private interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman.
As an avid adorer of the patron St. Jude’s, the family requests donations can be made in Kathleen's honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/give.html.

I just found out about Kathleen' s passing. I was one of her homecare nurses, Nancy, from First Choice. I will miss her. She was such a sweet, kind lady. I was honored to be her nurse and to get to know her. You all have my deepest sympathy.
