Kathleen Royer

Kathleen Margaret Veronica Allen Royer, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 13, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Margaret (nee Moore)

Kathleen attended St. Bernard's Grammar School in Pittsburgh and later Mt. Lebanon High School in Mt. Lebanon, PA. At just 15 years old, she met her future husband, David Royer, at a local movie theater-a chance meeting that blossomed into a lifelong love story. They were married on June 6, 1964, at St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon.

Kathleen began her career as a secretary at the JCPenney District Office in Pittsburgh before moving with David to Michigan, where they built their home and raised their family. In Michigan, she continued her professional work at MacManus, John & Adams Advertising Company and quickly became a vital part of her community.

Kathleen embraced her new community and quickly became an active member of the Birmingham Bloomfield Newcomers Club, the Junior League of Birmingham-where she served as secretary-and the Village Club of Bloomfield Hills, where she delighted in co-chairing the annual Holiday Boutique for many years. She also volunteered for more than 30 years at Beaumont Hospital, delivering mail to hospital patients. Kathleen cherished her daily life in offering love, support, and comfort to friends and family during their times of need. She was unwavering in her support of others.

Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, Kathleen lived her life with enthusiasm and energy. An avid skier well into her 70s, an enthusiastic gardener and cook, dog lover, former tennis player, a devoted golfer at Stonycroft, and a longtime member of the Forest Hills Swim Club, she embraced every season with activity, friendship, and joy. Her greatest love was watching her grandchildren compete in any activity they chose and often traveled to as many events as possible. She relished in her role as a mother and grandmother, creating a warm, lively home filled with love, laughter, and her famous cherry pies.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Beloved wife of David Warren Royer for 61 years. Devoted mother of Richard David (Michelle) and Kevin Michael (Susan). Loving grandmother of Bradley Ross, Joseph Richard, John Sheridan, Caroline Georgia, William McHenry, and Rachel Michelle.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 3–7 PM, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073.

Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 26, at 10 AM at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church – Stone Chapel, 2215 Opdyke, Bloomfield Hills, 48304.
