Gilbert Tecker Obituary

GILBERT L. TECKER- LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, PAPA, GREAT PAPA, BROTHER, UNCLE, AND FRIEND.

Gilbert L. Tecker, 85 of Berkley, MI, passed away peacefully on November 15th, 2025. He was born on May 16th, 1940, in Ferndale, Michigan to Norman and Linda Tecker. He graduated from Pershing High School, and during that time, he met his wife, Doris R. Leo. They married on October 1st, 1960, had three daughters, and spent a wonderful sixty-three years of marriage together. He was a devoted and compassionate caregiver to Doris during her final years, offering unwavering support and never leaving her side.

Gibby had three passions in life: family, work, and golf. He was father to Lisa (Brian) Zilli, the late Michelle Rimatzki, and Dawn (Paul) Mazzetti. He was Papa to Tyler (Kaitlyn), Jacob, Troy (Megan), Hunter (Lindsey), Gage (Alexis), Brian, Jenna, Justin (Olivia), and Breanna. He was Great Papa to Viviana, Marco, Alessia, Henry, Milana, Aubrielle, Giuseppe, and Callen. He was the brother of Rick (late, Virginia), Randy (Kathy), and Norma (Michael). He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He began his construction career with Leo's Grading & General Contracting Co as a laborer and continued to grow professionally throughout his time with the company. In 2001, he embarked on a new chapter, joining Flynn Paving Company as a sales representative and estimator. He retired in 2022, concluding an extraordinary 64-year career in the construction industry. Over those years, he formed friendships and professional connections that he maintained throughout his life.

In 1980, Gibby joined Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak, Michigan. Golf held a special place in his heart, and the friends he played with grew to be like family. He joyfully passed that love on to his grandchildren, creating many wonderful family memories together, whether on the golf course or at the pool. These cherished moments became the heart of his family's story, remembered with fondness and love. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 10AM at National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, 2100 12 Mile Rd., Royal Oak. Visitation begins at 9:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Heart to Heart Hospice
