Belton-Stroup Funeral Home - FairbornKathleen S. “Kathy” Thompson, age 75, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, surrounded by her loving husband, Bob Lytle; her daughter, Christy Goodman; her son-in-law, Mark Goodman; and her cherished granddaughters, Audrey and Caroline Lanning.
Kathy was born on June 16, 1950, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to Gladys Rose Thompson and Robert Fulton Thompson, both of Fairborn, Ohio.
Surviving are her sister, Betty (Bruce) Gorby of Huber Heights; her brother, David Thompson of Fairborn; and her beloved nieces, Angie Rehl, Christina Smith, and Becky Sellers, along with their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Thompson, and her brother, Bobby Thompson.
Kathy worked for many years as a licensed optician at LensCrafters, where she was known for her skill, attention to detail, and kindness toward customers and coworkers alike. She believed deeply in Jesus and found joy and comfort in Southern gospel and bluegrass music, which she loved to listen to and share with those around her. She attended Maple Avenue Church of God in Fairborn, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Kathy spent many happy years with her soul mate, Bob Lytle, with whom she shared countless adventures, laughter, and love. She had a deep pride in her daughter and granddaughters, who brought her tremendous joy and comfort throughout her life. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit, mountain humor, and generous heart.
A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM at Maple Avenue Church of God, 1352 S. Maple Ave, Fairborn, Pastor James Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
