Kathryn Amanda Lay Lewis, 69, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2022 after a short but difficult battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Louisville, KY May 18, 1953 to James Ellis and Kathryn Carr Lay and was a lifetime resident of Louisville. Kathy graduated from Westport H.S. in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Kentucky. While at UK she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and graduated with a B.S. in Community Health Education. Kathy worked for Aetna for over 20 years before becoming a stay at home mom which she would say was the best job of her life. She was devoted to her family, and enjoyed being Mom to her son Michael James Lewis, and his band of many friends.
Kathy was kind and caring to everyone she met and would lend a hand in any way, be it helping on a school project or taking someone to the doctor. Kathy was always there to help and support, never having an unkind word.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Kate, sisters-in-law Linda Goodwin, Nancy Naughton and many furry friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45+ years, Michael M Lewis, son Michael J Lewis (Annie), sister Christy Bakaly of Bethesda, MD, brother-in-law Lincoln Lewis Jr. Louisville, KY as well as nieces and nephews Charles and his wife Nadine Bakaly, Pasadena CA; Kathryn and her fiancée Alex Hayes of Wilmette IL; Lincoln Lewis III and his wife Kathlyn Lewis of Cullman, AL; Corey and Stephen Pickering of NY NY.; and David and Carrie Goodwin of Lou. KY. Additionally, there are so many more special friends who know who they are.
The family would like to thank the Hosparus team of Melanie, Keisha and Mary Alice for making her final days comfortable. They also thank Dr. Kommer and the staff of the CBC group at Baptist for trying to turn the tide on her cancer.
Visitation and Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday, July 24 from 1 to 5 pm at Pearson's 149 Breckenridge Lane with a private interment at Cave Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy would appreciate contributions to her favorite charity: the KY Humane Society at 1000 Lyndon Lane Suite B, Louisville KY 40222 or one of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes To Remember".

Michael, Im so sorry. I have just found out Kathy passed. I loved her very much and have envied you for 40 plus years. I She may be one of the finest people I have ever known. I know the hurt you have/are going through. The feelings of loss and hurt will diminish but not the wonderful memories. You will see her again in heaven. Love John Shallcross

My prayers are with you all. I have such fond memories of Kathy as fellow high school students at Westport H.S. and also being her ADPi sister at UK along with Christy. Kathy was always kind and friendly to everyone and will be missed by all.
