Wallace Rhodes Horine of Louisville died on October 18, 2025 after ninety-eight years on this earth. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kelly Patton (Sam) of Nashville and Rhodes Adair (Gabrielle) of John's Creek; three great grandchildren, Forrest, Emilia, and Griffin Adair. Wallace was preceded in death by his brother Sherman, his daughter, Margaret Lynn Adair, and wife, Louise Clifford Curry Horine.
Born and raised in Lexington, Wallace was recruited by Adolph Rupp to play for the University of Kentucky basketball team; however, he enlisted in the Navy to help with post-war efforts instead. Wallace completed his service obligations while also earning his bachelor's degree from UK. It was there he met and later married his wife of 72 years, Louise. They had one wonderful daughter, Margaret Lynn.
As a salesman, Wallace enjoyed traveling the region and meeting people from all walks of life. He enjoyed a social, active life and always had a story or joke to share. On any given day you might find him swimming at the YMCA, playing golf, enjoying activities at Harmony Landing, traveling abroad with his wife and friends, and spending time with family. Dedicated to his faith, Wallace was very active with Second Presbyterian Church in Louisville.
Visitation will be held at Second Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 25 at 10:30am, with memorial service following at 11am. Wallace will be laid to rest in Lexington with a burial attended by close family and friends.
