Kathryn Sue Peterson

Kathryn Sue Peterson, age 74, of Washburn, Missouri, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Arkansas.

She was born November 1, 1951, in Bentonville, Arkansas to Dale Self and Betty (Boatman) Self. On May 24, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma, she married the love of her life, Tommy Peterson.

When asked what mattered most to her, Kathryn's answer was always, "The Lord and my family." Together, she and Tommy evangelized throughout Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas for more than 35 years. If she wasn't in church, she was happiest at home surrounded by her family.

Kathryn had a gift for sewing and lovingly tailored Brother Tommy's clothes, so they fit him perfectly. If he had a shirt he especially liked, she would make it in every pattern for him. She also cherished family gatherings, especially big fish and squirrel fries. Her grandchildren spent many joyful days in the woods squirrel hunting and fishing by the creek bed with their beloved Granny Peterson.

If you knew Kathryn, you knew she loved you.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Virginia Winkler and three brothers, Elza "Buddy" Self, Willis Self, and Jackie Self.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Peterson of Washburn, Missouri; two sons, Tom Brittain and wife Lori of Seligman, Missouri, and Welsey Peterson and wife Jacinda of Washburn, Missouri; two daughters, Sarah Cron and husband Troy of Seligman, Missouri, and Tricia Upshaw and husband Mark of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; one sister, Debrah Dawson of Gentry, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Believers Full Gospel Fellowship, West 1st Street in Washburn. Brother Carol Williamson will conduct the service. A private burial will be held at Peterson Family Cemetery in Washburn, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
