Kathryn Ann 'Kathy' (Risch) Potts. Age 69 of Washington passed into her heavenly home, with her family by her side, on November 29, 2025 at 9:50 AM at The Villages of Oak Ridge after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Kathy was born in Daviess County, Indiana on September 25,1956 to Richard and Carol (Bateman) Risch. She was an avid seamstress her entire life and had worked at Myers Flower and Bridal Shop and then a few years at The Stitching Post. She was very involved in her daughters' lives when they were growing up and then later years her grandchildren's lives. Kathy loved camping at West Boggs Lake at Loogootee with friends and family. She had two Shih Tzu dogs, names where, Daisy and Molly, that she adored. Kathy was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She loved flowers, Gardening and just being outdoors. She also loved to bake, cook' and photography. Kathy had a smile and a laugh that was contagious and that you could never forget. She was a beautiful soul inside and out. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Kathy leaves behind to mourn her memory her high school sweetheart, Gary Dean Potts, whom she married May 7th 1977. They were completely devoted to one another for 48 wonderful years. They had two daughters; Sarah Kathryn Potts (Jack Jr.) Carpenter and Kimberly Potts Preston; her grandchildren; Isabel Preston, Leah Gray, Carter Preston, Natalie Riggs, Jackson Riggs, and Justin Carpenter; and one great grandchild, Vaeda Kathryn Mise. Kathy is also survived by her siblings; Susan (Mack) Petty, James (Diana) Risch, Christopher (Barb) Risch, Dave (Sharon (Risch, and John (Elaine) Risch. Also surviving are her extended family, sister in-laws and spouse's; Linda Potts, Carol Potts, Mary Riggins, Sharon and Steve Green, and Marg and Walt Waggoner; and several nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Carol Risch; her husband's parents, Freidman and Leona (Eck) Potts; her son, Brian Gary Potts; her brother Mark Damien Risch,; brothers in-law, Lonnie Potts, Fred Potts, Richard Potts, and Randy Smith; sisters in-law, Jackie Risch, Janet Potts, and Helen Smith; Her aunt, Janice Honacker; a nephew, Richard Gaither; and niece, Whitney Risch. The family of Kathy would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at The Villages of Oak Ridge, Memory Care Unit for the great care they gave Kathy.
