Patricia A. "Patty" (Palmer) Joyce, 80, passed away during the early morning hours of November 22, 2025. She was born in Washington on July 16, 1945, the daughter of Thomas J. and Ernestine (Doyle) Palmer. On July 7, 1962, she married William "Bill" Joyce and they created a loving home for themselves and their children.
Patty was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School. She was employed for many years as a bank teller for the Washington National Bank, which later became the Old National Bank. Patty had a generous spirit and enjoyed volunteer work, especially at St. Vincent dePaul. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Patty was a devoted member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Those who now cherish their memories of Patty include: her husband, Bill Joyce; sons, Bill A. (Teresa) Joyce of Washington and Jeffrey W. (Kristin) Joyce of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Twila (David) Gonzales of Miami, Florida; sister, Mary Sue Shulin of Cumming, Georgia; sister-in-law, Judy Palmer; brother, Thomas J. (Rita) Palmer of Conyers, Georgia; and brother-in-law, Morris Lee of Washington. Additionally, she leaves grandchildren: Brad (Shandli) Joyce and their children, Owen and Liam of Newburgh; Adam (Ashley) Joyce and their children, Carson and Addison of Greenwood; Emily Joyce of Chicago, Illinois; and David Joyce of Chicago, Illinois.
During her lifetime, Patty mourned the passing of her parents, Thomas and Ernestine Palmer; sister, Ellen Jane Lee; brother, Mike Palmer; and brother-in-law, Jack Shulin.
Donations may be made in Patty Joyce's memory to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church Bereavement Committee, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington, Indiana 47501. Envelopes will be available at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Visitation for Patricia "Patty" A. Joyce will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025, 4:00 - 7:00 pm, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana 47501.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Patricia "Patty" A. Joyce at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington, Indiana. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
