David L. Dyer, 63, passed away during the evening hours of October 16, 2025. He was born in Linton, Indiana, on June 26, 1962, the son of Clarence and Bonnie (Barton) Dyer. On May 23, 2003, he married Elizabeth "Betsy" (Heffernan) Dyer, and they created a loving home together until his passing.
David was a 1980 graduate of Worthington-Jefferson High School. In 2022, David retired as the superintendent of the street department and utilities for the town of Worthington after thirty years of service.
David will always be remembered as a man with a humorous, fun-loving spirit. He loved to joke, tease and play pranks on others. He was the best at making others laugh and creating a fun environment for everyone.
David loved the outdoors. He enjoyed Polaris rides, gardening, mushroom hunting, and any kind of yard work. David had an extensive collection of John Deere and other farming memorabilia. It was well known David was a devoted family man and he was happiest when camping and sitting around the campfire at night with his family.
Those who now cherish David's memory include his wife of twenty-two years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Dyer; children: Megan Dyer (Nicholas) Greenwood of Clarksville, Tennessee; Brayton (Sabrina) Greene of Mooresville; Justin (Amber) Brown of Worthington.
David leaves several grandchildren: Abigail Miller; Aiden Greene; Lillian Greene; Brynnlee Greenwood; Isabella Greenwood; Justin Riggleman, Kay Barnett, Shaden Brown, Kimmy Brown; and great-grandchild, Dyllan Riggleman; mother-in-law, Catherine "Kay" Heffernan; sister-in-law, Julia (Brad) Batchelor; brother-in-law, John Heffernan; as well as several nieces and nephews. David also treasured the companionship and love of all his pets.
During his lifetime, David mourned the passing of his parents, Clarence and Bonnie Dyer; brothers: Harold Dyer, Lonnie Dyer, Ronnie Dyer; sister, Carolyn Sue Dyer; father-in-law, Richard Heffernan; sister-in-law, Debbie Dyer; and nephew, Jeffrey Dyer.

I am so sorry to hear about David. I've known him since we were teens. He was always a little pest but in a good way. I had the privilege of working with David before he retired from the Town. It's hard to believe he is no longer with us. Although like all good things, my memories of him will be here forever. Sorry to his family for their loss. Nick and Renie Powell
