Kathryn Marie “Kate” (Smith) Sanor passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on January 14, 2025 at her home in Alliance, Ohio. She was surrounded by many of her children, grandchildren and dear friends. Kathryn was born on May 8, 1925 in Minerva, Ohio to her parents, the late Ralph M. Smith and Erma Taylor Smith.
A graduate of Sebring High School, she grew up in the North Benton Presbyterian Church and was a member of First Brethren Church of North Georgetown, Ohio most of her adult life. Kate was a proud and devoted member of the Auxiliary Unit of the George D. Worth American Legion Post 574, serving faithfully in the local Post and the District organization. She and her late husband Ray managed the family farm near Homeworth and enjoyed many travel adventures to bowling events with their friends.
Kate was preceded in death by both her parents, her brothers Roger Smith and Robert Smith, her husband Ray E. Sanor and grandson Jarod Cameron. She is survived by her children Kenneth (Sarah) Sanor, Donald (Sue) Sanor, Nancy (Gary) Diehl, Diane (Michael) Gross, Gary (Connie) Sanor, and Karen (Slade) Reiter. Kate is also survived by her other 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be at 5:00 PM on Friday January 17, 2025 at Gednetz-Ruzek & Brown Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio. Friends may greet the family prior to the funeral beginning at 4:00 PM with Pastor Dr. Joel Soza officiating. She will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First Brethren Church, PO Box 124, North Georgetown, Ohio 44665 or Aultman Hospice at Alliance, 270 E. State St. Suite 130, Alliance, OH 44601. Friends and family may watch the live stream, send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
