Kathryn Lynn Smith age 79 of Clio, MI passed away peacefully at her residence January 6, 2026 with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at St. Charles and Helena Catholic Church, 230 E. Vienna St., Clio, MI 48420. Family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 AM until the start of the Mass. Father Kenneth Coughlin officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clio, followed by a luncheon. She was born June 21, 1946 in Alpena MI, the daughter of Cleo and Emma (Dice) Briley. On March 1969, she was joined in marriage to Karl Smith. She was a devoted wife and mother. Besides caring for her family, she worked as a nurse and waitress. Kathryn spent time crocheting, sewing, painting, traveling, fishing, and tending her flowers. She became very devoted to the Catholic faith and was involved in Faith Formation For Children, Summer Bible School and the church choir, and she really enjoyed crocheting matts for the homeless and prayer shawls. Kathryn was a dedicated grandmother to Ashley and Tyler. She is survived by her daughter Karyn Ray from Greenbush, two grandchildren Ashley Smith of Clio and Tyler Smith of Alpena, siblings Regina Hottis, Florence White and Allen Briley. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Karl Smith, parents Cleo and Emma, siblings Chris, Carl, Larry, Roger, Mary and Greg.
