Kathryn Lynn Yanel, age 76, originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home in Dawson, Georgia, on December 16, 2025. Services will be held at a later date. A small family and friends memorial will be held on December 30, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM at her home in Dawson, Georgia.
Born on September 29, 1949, to the late Irving and Doris Wilson, Kathryn lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet devotion to those she loved. She was a lifelong Christian and a devoted member of the Lutheran Church, drawing strength and guidance from her faith throughout her life.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her three children: Ray Turcek (58), Danielle Yanel (52), and Troy Yanel (45).
She is also survived by her grandchildren on Ray Turcek’s side: Elizabeth Turcek (24), Jereth Turcek (22), Nathan Turcek (18), and Carissa Turcek (32); her great-grandchildren: Holdyn Lewis (11), Lincoln Lewis (8), and Dalany Merath (3); grandchildren on Danielle Yanel’s side: Nicholas Yanel (11); and grandchildren on Troy Yanel’s side: Wilson Yanel (11), Dylan Yanel (8), and Everest Yanel (4).
Kathryn worked for over ten years at Blockbuster, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and friendly presence. Outside of work, she found joy in spending time with family and friends, collecting antiques, knitting, and caring deeply for her beloved pets, Major, her English Mastiff, and Darwick, her cat.
Kathryn will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love for her family, and her gentle, caring nature. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, perseverance, and love that will be carried forward by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
