Kathy Gie Armstead

Sister Kathy G. Armstead peacefully entered rest on Tuesday December 10, 2024 at the age of 73.
Kathy G Armstead was born November 19, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the third child of the late Rev Edward C Gie Sr and the late Irene Hoover Gie.
Kathy is a native of New Orleans Louisiana she attended Orleans public school where she graduated from Walter L. Cohen May of 1969
She accepted Jesus Christ in 1962 and united with New Zion Baptist church, under the leadership of Rev A. L. Davis Jr. and has been a member of New Zion Baptist Church for over 60 years.
She grew up spiritually serving in the church, she served as a vacation bible school teacher and a loyal member of Sunday school.
Kathy served faithfully in church until she became ill.
Kathy was employed at New Orleans Health Corporation for over 25 years and at Don Bohn Ford for over 10 plus years.
Kathy was a foster care mom in the eighty's to varies children and remained in touch with all the foster children she cared for.
She was proceeded in death by her loving parents Rev Edwards C. Gie Sr. and Irene Hoover Gie, brother Alonzo J Gie, Lenoard Gie of California, and her childhood friend/ Sister in Law Debra Parker and many other relatives and friends.
She leaves to cherish her only devoted son Lionel Armstead Jr. granddaughter Loreal Armstead, one grandson Lionel Armstead III, one daughter in law Temetra Christian. Three sisters Judith Lomax, Pamela Vanderhorst, Genevia Gie Wombley, one Brother Edward C Gie Jr (Joyce), nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, friends, and her New Zion Church Family.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at New Zion Baptist Church, 2319 Third St. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.
