Kathy Ellen Atkinson, 68, of
Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026 at her home. She was born on October 15, 1957 in
Monroe, North Carolina to the late Cecil Lee Jenkins and Mary Helen Demby Jenkins.
Kathy's journey through life was shared with her devoted husband of 46 years, Rick Atkinson, who stood by her side in
Pageland, SC. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Kathy's legacy continues through her loving son, Brandon Atkinson (Ashley), and their children, Carson and Aleah Atkinson, as well as her daughter, Brianne van Heusden (Charles), and their children, CJ, Kaitlyn, and Adair van Heusden. The light of her life shone even brighter with the arrival of her great-grandchild, Mariana van Heusden.
Kathy was the beloved sister of Ronnie Jenkins (Glendora) of Jefferson, SC and Ann Cabaniss (Chris) of Waxhaw, NC. She was predeceased by her brothers, Billy Jenkins and Ricky Jenkins. Each family member held a special place in her heart, and she nurtured those bonds with the same care and attention she gave to her immaculate home and homemade desserts.
She cherished spending time with her family, whether it was a day at the beach, exploring new eateries, or simply enjoying each other's company at home. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she embraced the love of the Lord with open arms, sharing that love with everyone she met. Kathy's presence at church was as constant as her faith, and her spiritual journey was an inspiration to many.
Kathy's love for Hallmark movies was only matched by her love for a tidy house and the warmth of her kitchen, where she was known for cooking up love in the form of the best brownies and pound cakes anyone could ever taste. Her husband, Rick, was her partner in every aspect of life, and their time together was filled with mutual respect, affection, and unwavering support.
Described by those who knew her as loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled, Kathy's impact on the world was profound. She had a way of making everyone feel special, seen, and heard. Her thoughtful gestures, whether a kind word or a home-cooked meal, left indelible marks on the hearts of those she touched.
