Kathy Brock, age 70, of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Born on July 18, 1953, Kathy grew up with a passion for baking. It was this passion that led her to become the proud owner operator of the original Sugar Shack Bakery in Orange Grove. For years, Kathy delighted locals and visitors alike with her delectable treats, creating a go-to destination for anyone with a sweet tooth. She was known to many as "The bakery lady" and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy's proudest accomplishments extended beyond her successful career as a baker. She found immense joy in spending time with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. Her love for them knew no bounds and she relished in every moment she had with them.
In addition to her passion for baking and devotion to family, Kathy also had a fondness for playing the slot machines. The thrill of hitting the jackpot brought an extra sparkle to her eyes. It was in those moments of excitement and anticipation that Kathy embraced life's simple pleasures and found happiness.
Surrounded by loved ones, Kathy peacefully passed away on November 14, 2023, in Gulfport. While her physical presence may be gone, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lavon Penton and Nell Stephenson Rogers; her brothers, Danny "DP" Parker and Wayne Parker; her sister, Gail Penton Garrett; and her baby son, John Daniel Brock, Jr.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Johnny Brock, whose unwavering support and endless love provided strength throughout their journey together. She also leaves behind her children: Magdeline Wilson, Marvin Brock, Michelle Brock Penton (Ernest), and Jared Rich; her sister, Stephanie Hudson, and her brother, Wilton Penton; her grandchildren, Jordan Brock, Brandon Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Kaylin Donahoo (Hunter), Devan Penton (Sintelia), Dakoda Penton (Sierra), Davana Middleton, and Douglas Jay “DJ” Penton; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by her warm presence.
