Kathy was born on September 16,1956 in New Washington, Indiana and was raised alongside two brothers. For the first half of her life, she remained in New Washington and created a family of her own with former husbands Merlin Donahue and the late Doug Deppe. As her three children grew, Kathy, a master seamstress, worked as a costume creator for the Louisville Ballet, the Head of Alterations at Bacons, and also hand crafted countless custom fashions for family, friends and strangers alike. Working in the arts suited Kathy as she was creative with a style and personality uniquely her own.
She was also known in her community for being a talented singer. She often sang in church, at weddings, funerals and was even the lead singer in a local band Country Fury. It was in this band that she met a guitarist, Rick Persinger, whom she would later marry and embark on the last half of life’s journey. They created a home in Madison, Indiana, where Kathy fully embraced her titles of wife, bonus mom and eventually, Mimi. She enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and cooking great meals. She also loved her dogs and cheering for her grandchildren at ballgames. She was as complex as she was vivacious. People were drawn to Kathy's infectious smile, friendly nature, and adventurous spirit.
She leaves behind her husband Rick Persinger; mother Pat Sanders; brother Steven Brown; children Mandie (Doug) Bondy, Mariah (Mark) Meyer, JD (Julie) Deppe; bonus children Mallory (Jeremy) Liter, Trent (Jensen) Persinger; and grandchildren Tanner, Megan, Claire, Finn, Rhett, Leah, and Robin. She was preceded in death by her father Warren "Bud" Brown and brother Dennis Brown.
