Kathy Lynn Smith Campbell, age 65, of
Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Born on October 16, 1959, in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Shelton James and Arzeta Pearl Holton Smith. Kathy's life was marked by love, dedication, and a deep connection to her family and community.
Kathy was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, James Henry Campbell, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years until his passing in 2023. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Kathy's heart was also heavy with the loss of her brothers-in-law, Donald Campbell and Arnold 'Rock" Campbell; two nephews, Keith and Chris Campbell; and a niece, Melissa Campbell Newland, who she held dear.
A life-long farmer, Kathy embraced the land and the simple joys it brought her. She also contributed her talents as the assistant manager at Rite Aid and was previously employed with Kerr Glass. Her work ethic and commitment to her community were evident in all she did.
Kathy was a faithful member of Hopewell Methodist Church and Pactolus Community Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her spirit of kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and she was known for her warm smile and welcoming heart.
Kathy is survived by her loving son, Stephen Campbell of Grayson, and her three cherished grandchildren, Reece Campbell, Kimber Campbell, and Jarred Justice, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, James (Audrey) Smith of Chesapeake, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Mary Roberts Campbell; a host of special nieces and nephews: Tracey (Brandon) Stokley, Mary (Nathan) Smith, Abby Stormes, Avah Smith, Jackson Smith, Sabastian Price, Dallas Price, David (Cathy) Campbell, Charlie (Rhonda) Campbell, Teresia (John)Cooper, Stephanie Stamper, and Annie Campbell. Kathy's extended family and friends were a source of great joy and support throughout her life.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home, with Bro. Chris Bellew officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbell Family Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit from 11 AM until the service hour on Wednesday.
Pallbearers honoring Kathy's memory will be Reece Campbell, James Smith, Brandon Stokley, Lance Westerville, Josh Stokley, Charlie Campbell, and David Campbell.
