Kathy S. Diffenderfer

Kathy S. Diffenderfer, 65, of McConnell, passed away at home surrounded by her family on September 29, 2025.Kathy was born on February 19, 1960, in Freeport, IL to Wesley and Donna (Lehman) Wessels. She married Mark Diffenderfer on June 21, 1980, at the Grace Free Methodist Church in McConnell.
Kathy was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Lena. She started working at Community Bank in Winslow and then farmed with her husband. The last thirteen years she cared for her grandchildren. She loved making sure every summer checklist of activities were completed and then more. She made sure every grandchild got their driving lessons completed in the summer and snacks everyday after school. She enjoyed working in her flowers and baking with the grandkids.
Kathy is survived by her husband Mark of McConnell; son Chuck (Dawn) Diffenderfer of McConnell; daughter Heidi (Ryan) Werhane of Lena; four grandchildren-Maci, Noah, Brody, and Allie; sister- Barb (Dan Long) Lowe of New London, WI and brother-Jim (Rhonda) Wessels of McConnell.
Preceded in death by her; parents; brother- Mark and Viola Splinter.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena.
Interment will take place at Basswood Cemetery.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Casey Dwyer.
A memorial has been established in her name.
