Kathy Genevie Obituary
Kathy graduated from Abbeville High School in 1971 and later earned her degree from Winthrop College in 1975. For an incredible span of 40 years, Kathy and her husband Michael dedicated themselves to the Abbeville Opera House, contributing their time and talent to its success.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her first husband, David Eller.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 33 years, Michael Genevie of the home; her children Mike Eller (Marisa) of Greenville, SC, Justin Eller (Anna) of Anderson, SC, and Meg Genevie (Amanda) of Mead, CO; her mother-in-law Margaret King of Weston, WV; two brothers, Bill McGuigan (Jenny) of Phenix City, AL and Mike McGuigan (Fran) of Simpsonville, SC; her grandchildren, Jackson, Abigail, Bennett, Grace, and Cara; as well as her dear friend, extended children and nephews, Lori Eller of Abbeville, SC, Kelsey Eller of Charleston, SC, Jacob Eller (Chelsea) of Honea Path, SC, Patrick McGuigan (Caroline) of Simpsonville, SC and Kyle McGuigan (Shannon) of Fletcher, NC.
A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Abbeville, with the Rev. Brad Christie officiating. Following the service, the family will greet friends as they come together to remember and honor Kathy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in Kathy's name. Contributions can be sent to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141 or made online at www.ocrahope.org or to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont at 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
