Catherine "Kathy" Marie (Ball) Gomez, 86, of Corpus Christi, formerly of Bangs, Texas passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023. A visitation with family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2023 at Heartland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Bangs Cemetery.
Kathy was born in Fort Belknap, Montana to Bartholomew and Eva (Weasel) Ball on June 7, 1937. She attended Pierre Indian School in Pierre South Dakota. Kathy was member of the Assiniboine-Sioux tribe 100% percent American Indian and very proud of her heritage. She married Trinidad Gomez in Oregon, April 14, 1963 and they began a life together that blessed them with 4 children. Kathy was a very spiritual and native in everything she did. She was a social butterfly everywhere she went. She loved to strike up a conversation and get to know people. Kathy was outgoing all her life. She loved to dance and be adventurous always up for a road trip or get together. Her boyfriend played the guitar and performed at different venues, Kathy was always there watching and enjoying the festivities. A trip to the beach, feeding the birds or going to bingo, she never slowed down. She was a talker, she loved telling her children jokes and childhood stories. Kathy spoke several different languages and dialects of language; it was a gift. She loved going to church and talking to God. Kathy lived a very long and fulfilled life.
Kathy is survived by her children, Irene Gomez Walls and Jose Herrera of Corpus Christi, Sonia Frances Arnold and husband Mike Arnold of Corpus Christi, James Gomez and wife, Yesenia of Brownwood and Elizabeth Riojas and husband Michael of Odessa; long time companion and guitar player, Manuel Vasquez of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Trinidad Gomez; and grandchildren, Bonnie Marie Grant, Aaron Sliger and Brandon Gomez-Abernathy.
