Kathy Lesley-Klecha Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 17, 2025.
Kathy R. Lesley-Klecha November 21, 1955 – July 14, 2025 Kathy R. Lesley-Klecha, 69, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family both in person and virtually. Her transition was marked by grace, love, and the warmth of those who cherished her most. Born in Yonkers, NY, on November 21, 1955, Kathy lived a vibrant and fulfilling life. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Hunter College and went on to build a successful career and life first in Manhattan, NY and later in Glenwood, NJ. In 2007, she left the hustle and bustle of city life to embrace a slower pace in Rehoboth Beach, DE, where she worked for the Rehoboth Beach Parking Department then Rehoboth Beach Public Works. She built many friendships that lasted beyond her retirement and would stop to chat with the workers during early morning walks on the boardwalk. Kathy's life was defined by compassion, empathy, and a deep love for others -traits that shone through in her 29-year marriage to her devoted husband, Larry R. Klecha Sr., built on a foundation of ten years of partnership before marriage. Her kindness extended to everyone she met, including animals, to whom she gave care and comfort. She found joy tending to her garden, maintaining birdbaths, and creating a welcoming space for native wildlife. She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry R. Klecha Sr.; her children, Larry R. Klecha Jr. (Kärin Dillon), Jennifer Klecha, and Heather Hayden; and her cherished grandchildren, Paige Dillon and Mia Dillon. She is also survived by her cousin Pastor Sandra Jenkins and "aunt" Dutchie. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Mensah, and her long-lived adopted street cat, Scooter. Her legacy of love, generosity, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The family will hold a private service to honor Kathy's beautiful life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Kathy's charities – Feeding America (https://www.feedingamerica.org). Please sign the virtual guestbook located on the tribute page.
