Kathy E. Mendonca, passed away on December 5, 2025, after bravely battling a lengthy illness. Born on April 16, 1948, in Santa Fe, NM, Kathy was a lifelong resident of the city she cherished.
She is survived by her children, Chris Mendonca and his wife Toni, Orlando Mendonca Sr. and his wife Dorothy, Jerry Mendonca, Barbara Mascarenas and her husband Brian, and Brenda Mendonca and her partner Turtle. Her legacy is carried on by her grandchildren: Eric Mendonca (Yvette), Lynette King, Christopher Mendonca, Orlando Mendonca Jr. (Danielle), Joseph Mascarenas, Adam Garcia, Jessica Mascarenas (Andres), and Antoinette Herrera. Additionally, Kathy was a proud great-grandmother to Jaxon, Logan, Preston, Haylee, Ashlin, Dominic, and Emily.
Her loving dog Chiquita.
Kathy was also fondly remembered by her siblings, Molly Dofflemeyer and William Dofflemeyer, as well as several extended nieces and nephews who hold dear the memories shared with her.
Throughout her life, Kathy found joy in simple pleasures. She loved visiting the casino and took pride in her culinary skills, particularly her talent for making tortillas, a skill that brought warmth and togetherness to family gatherings.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Mendonca, her mother Reinalda Martinez, her father Antonio Ortega, and her siblings Fidel Dofflemeyer, Lita Arrellano, and Gloria Dofflemeyer. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, and their memories will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Rosary service will be held on January 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Rivera Family Funeral & Cremations of Santa Fe, located at 417 East Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM, followed by a burial service at 2:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Kathy's life and share in the fond memories of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.
