IN LOVING MEMORY OF KATHY NEECE

May 24, 1950 – November 9, 2025

Kathleen "Kathy" Annette Clarke Neece, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2025, at the age of 75 in Ventura, California.

Born on May 24, 1950, in Maryland to Shirley and John "Jack" Clarke, Kathy spent her childhood moving frequently as the daughter of a proud Navy serviceman. She held especially fond memories of her time in Hawaii-walking barefoot to school, eating raw sugar cane, and enjoying the carefree spirit of island life. As the only girl among five brothers-John (Diana), Michael (Rogina), David (Elaine), Dan (Lynn), and Steven-she grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and a lively household that shaped her strength, resilience, and humor.

Kathy graduated from Hueneme High School before earning her cosmetology license, a skill she used to cut her sons' hair (and her own) for many years. While working at Bank of America, Kathy was introduced to Bob Neece by her friend and co-worker Lela-Bob's younger sister. It was love at first sight. Kathy and Bob married in January 1971 and built a beautiful life together for more than five decades. Bob remained her devoted husband and constant companion, especially throughout her journey with Alzheimer's.

Kathy and Bob raised two children, Monica Neece-Greenberg (Arnold) and Andrew Neece (Amy). Whether serving as a stay-at-home parent, soccer team mom, PTA volunteer, or classroom helper, she poured her entire heart into motherhood.

Later, she returned to the workforce at GTE/Verizon, where her leadership and strong work ethic led to an office manager promotion. She retired early so she and Bob could fulfill their dream of traveling the country in their motorhome. Together they explored Canada, Mexico, and every U.S. state except Alaska-collecting keepsakes and creating cherished memories along the way.

Kathy was a woman of many talents and boundless creativity. Known for her famous lemon cake and festive Christmas cookies, she also hand-sewed Halloween costumes and lovingly repaired her daughter's wedding gown. Her artistic touch brightened every space through decorating, painting, and gardening. An avid reader, Kathy cherished family traditions like the Huntington Beach boat parade and Thanksgiving at the Pine Mountain cabin.

Above all, Kathy's greatest joy was her role as "Nana" to her grandchildren: Bobby Neece (15), Michael Greenberg (15), and Ava Greenberg (10). She treasured every moment spent with them, filling their lives with love, laughter, and adventure.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Shirley Clarke, and her eldest brother, John Clarke. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; her children, Monica (Arnold) and Andrew (Amy); her grandchildren, Bobby, Michael, and Ava; her brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Palms at Bonaventura for the kindness and care they provided to Kathy during her final years, with special thanks to Stefanie Reyes, Generations Program Director.

Kathy will be remembered for her warmth, humor, creativity, and fierce devotion to her family. A strong woman with a generous heart, she lived life fully and loved deeply.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, California Central Coast Chapter: https://www.alz.org/cacentralcoast
