Kathy Ossont, 74, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2024, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Kathy was born on December 10, 1950, in New York to Harold and Velda (LaClair) Reed.

After graduating from S.U.N.Y. of Cobleskill in NY, Kathy married the love of her life, Charles Ossont II, on March 23, 1972, in Antwerp, NY. Kathy firmly supported her husband throughout his esteemed Navy career, becoming an integral part of the military community and a maternal figure for countless servicemembers. Together they cultivated a family that blossomed under her nurturing care and built a life that took them across the country from Port Hueneme, California, to Little Creek, Virginia and even Panama City, Florida before settling in Greenville, Wisconsin where she dedicated herself to civic duty as an election poll worker.

As a lifetime gardener, Kathy’s passions were deeply rooted in the earth. Every year, Chuck and Kathy grew bountiful harvests in the garden, often canning over 200 pints of produce in a single season, filling their home and everyone she loved with the fruits of their labor. A talented baker, Kathy filled many tables with her delicious creations and enjoyed the simple joys of life, including playing bunco with her friends and attending luncheons with the Red Hatter’s Society. Kathy's life was a testament to her strength, independence, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

She was a dynamic, strong-willed, wife, and mother to her children and grandchildren. She loved doing crafts (especially sewing), crochet, and knitting. Grandma Kathy loved to sing and dance while making hearty meals for her family which she loved dearly. One thing she loved most about the Christmas season, outside of decorating every part of the house, was baking all sorts of cookies with her grandchildren. No matter the mess, she would always say, “We can always clean it up later, so have fun kiddo!” Followed by a big kiss on the cheek and some more singing. In recent years, she loved to explore national parks with her son, Blas, on hikes to places like Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, and Canyonlands National Park along with many more.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Chuck; sons Charles (Sarah) Ossont III, Daniel (Ann) Ossont and Blas Ossont; grandchildren Mackenzie, Declan, Brianna, Catherine, Leighton, Dani and Oscar the cat; siblings Karen (Nelson) Brown, Linda (Robert) Doxtater, Carol (Rodney) Davidson, Pam (Robert) Fink, Gary John (Debbie) Reed, David (Flo) Reed, Connie (Richard) Hilligas, Brenda Reed and Harold (Bonnie) Reed; brother and sisters-in-law Robert (Sherry) Ossont, Guy (Nancy) Ossont, David (Charline) Ossont, Dennis Ossont, Joy (Steve) Mientkiewicz, Vicky Ossont, Steven (Laura) Ossont and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Robert (Jane) Ossont, Tommy John Ossont, Charlean Francis Ossont and Jeff Ossont. She was also acting grandmother for the neighborhood kids which she loved like her own.
