Kathy Jo Prettyman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was 70 years old. Kathy was born on October 25, 1954, in Bethesda, Ohio, and from the very beginning, she radiated joy, warmth, and a light that touched every person who had the blessing of knowing her. She had a vibrant, fun-loving spirit and a heart that never stopped giving. She was the glue of her family - always showing love in thoughtful, quiet ways, and most especially through her deep devotion to her daughters and grandchildren. Nothing brought Kathy more happiness than being surrounded by her grandkids. She cherished every moment with them, and watching her grandson, Ethan, play football brought her immense joy and pride. Kathy had a radiant personality that lit up every room she entered. She loved dancing, sharing laughs, doting on her dogs, and was never far from her favorite - a cold Diet Coke. Her sense of humor and joyful energy made even the ordinary moments feel extraordinary. She is preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Hamilton, and her late husband, Ted Mortimer. She is survived by her husband, Jack Prettyman; daughters Donelle Wilson, Joele (Chad) Bumgardner, Noelle (Cameron) Shreve, and Shanelle (Vince) Gillies; her sisters Sharon Kinsey, Carrie (Dennis) Shippy, and Marge (Bob) Olkowski; and her treasured grandchildren Joshua, Ethan, Kendall, Carter, Gavin, and Sarah - all of whom she loved beyond measure. Kathy's legacy is one of laughter, unconditional love, and strength. Her presence in our lives was a gift we will forever be grateful for, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 12noon at Generations, 338 National Rd., Wheeling. All who loved her are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
