Obituary published on Legacy.com by Folk Funeral Home - Williston on Mar. 10, 2026.
Kathy Elaine Shaffer, born August 29, 1962, in Augsburg, Germany, lost her 26- year battle with multiple sclerosis on March 6, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur G. Shaffer and the late Jean Walker Shaffer of Columbia, South Carolina. Kathy is survived by her brother Arthur 'Skip' Sweet of Mocksville, North Carolina, her brother William Shaffer and his wife Dorothy Edgerton, nephew Walker Shaffer and niece Martha Shaffer, brother-in-law Tim Crumpton, nephews Adam, Matt, and Alex Crumpton, and great-niece Autumn Crumpton, all of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Karen Crumpton, and brothers Michael 'Denny' Shaffer, Steve Shaffer, and Charles Shaffer.

Kathy was known by all for her cheerful personality and bright smile, even in the face of her debilitating medical condition. She is missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Carlyle Senior Care and Agape Hospice for their caring attention to Kathy over the last eight years. Angels all.

Funeral services will be private.
