Kathy Stemmann, 69, of Ragley, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Born on November 4, 1955, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Ralph and Mervyn Mary (Bouquet) Phillips.
Kathy served honorably in the United States Navy before pursuing a career in nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from McNeese State University and dedicated over 30 years to the profession as a registered nurse. Kathy was celebrated for her generosity, warmth, and spirited nature, often found enjoying a great glass of wine, time at the camp, hosting memorable parties, and cherishing moments with her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Ralph Stemmann; her son, Christopher Stemmann; her siblings, Ralph "Boo Boo" Phillips (Kathy), Tommy Phillips, and Robert "Robbie" Phillips; her brother-in-law, Karl Stemmann (Kay); her sister-in-law, Julie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Stemmann; her sister, Susie DeRouen; her brother, Jimmy Phillips; and her parents.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, officiated by Rev. Josh Page. Burial will follow at Derouen Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday morning at 9:00 AM and continue until the service begins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Karl Stemmann, Benny Barnes, Mark Phillips, Ralph "Boo Boo" Phillips, Brent Phillips, and Mike Brady.
