Kathy Lea Swenson, 69, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Life Care Center of Lewiston after a five-year battle with congestive heart failure. Kathy was born Dec. 1, 1954, in Cherokee, Okla., to Jim and Betty Nicola. Kathy had one brother, Kent Nicola and one sister Crystal Stephenson. Kathy was raised in a military family (U.S. Air Force) and they traveled to different Air Force bases in the United States and Europe before settling in Idaho in 1969. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1972. Kathy married Vernon Swenson in 1976, and divorced in 2000. She and Vern had two children; a son Joshua and a daughter Lynia.
Kathy had worked in retail and retail management. Kathy also worked clerical and bookkeeping for multiple businesses and was most well known for bartending at the Hide-A-Way.
Kathy was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother. She is survived by her son and his wife Joshua and Lesli Swenson, two grandchildren: Phillip Nicola Swenson and Layla Marie Swenson of Grangeville; daughter Lynia Swenson of Lewiston; sister Crystal and her husband Tom Stephenson and their children Ryan and Jessica of Nampa.
One of Kathy's greatest accomplishments was surviving breast cancer. She had a deep love for her family and friends that she made along the way.
Per Kathy's request there will be no service held. The family asks that you hold her with love in your hearts and minds.
