Kathy Jan Thomas, born on February 25, 1961, in McRae, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. She is remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and dedicated professional.
Kathy obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Brewton-Parker College, a testament to her commitment to education and professional growth. Her career flourished as she served as an Agent with the Telfair County Farm Service Agency, where she made a meaningful impact in her community, helping local farmers navigate the intricacies of agricultural programs and services.
A beloved member of her community, Kathy was known not just for her professional capabilities but also for her warmth and goodness. Her spirit shone brightly through her family life, as she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Jordan Thomas, and his wife, Chelsea, along with her cherished grandson, Jase Thomas. The love she shared with her family will continue to be a guiding light in their lives.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Thomas; her son, Joshua Thomas; and her parents, Weston "Peck" Evans and Janet Ashley Evans. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
A memorial service to honor Kathy's life will be held on January 31, 2025, at McRae Presbyterian Church, located at 70 College St., McRae-Helena, Georgia. The service is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM, with visitation 30 minutes before the service
As family and friends gather to celebrate Kathy’s life, they will undoubtedly share stories reflecting her kindness, dedication, and the joy she brought into the hearts of everyone around her. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
