Kathy L. Wonson of Gloucester passed away on Friday, January 5th, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born in Gloucester, MA on May 9, 1951, daughter of the late Beryl E. Cressey and Gardiner K. Wonson.
Kathy grew up in Gloucester and attended Gloucester High School. Kathy always loved to travel and seized every opportunity while working for Manchester Travel and Delta Airlines. Her favorite place was Germany, but she would travel to any location and wanted to see the whole world.
Kathy had a great joy for adventuring, the outdoors, and her family. She enjoyed skiing in winter and going to the beach, kayaking, or swimming in the summer. She loved listening to live music, attending concerts, and dancing. Kathy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoiling them any chance she could get. Her love and generosity will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.
She is survived by her brother, Gardiner Wonson of Gloucester; daughter, Kaitlin Stachowiak and husband Alex of CT; son, Karl Bernard Jr. and wife, Cathryn of NH; 6 grandchildren, Riley and Logan Bernard of NH, Alison Burbine and her husband Michael, Savanna Butler and her husband Stephen, Connor McCarthy and his fiancée Meaghan McNutt, and Tariq Moses all of Gloucester; 5 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Belle Burbine, Sophia and Samuel Butler, and Michelle McCarthy. She is also survived by many family and friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her daughters, Tracy Wyatt, and Kelly Moses; her brother, Robert Wonson of OR, as well as her first and second husbands, Johnny Wyatt, and Karl Bernard Sr.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Elks Lodge, 101 Atlantic Road on Bass Rocks in Gloucester on Friday January 26th, 2024, from 4-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
