KATIE L. JETER (nee Crowell) age 81, beloved life-long partner for over 40 years of Robert Holmes; loving mother of Angela Bishop; devoted grandmother of Raynard Bishop; cherished daughter of the late Aaron and Olivia Crowell; dearest sister of Mary Love and the late Clinton Crowell, Rosie Hale and Lillie Parker; dear aunt of Vicki McClure, Chinia Coleman, Vanessa Johnson and Belinda Love and great aunt of Chinadoll Coleman, Katrina Coleman, Carrenda McClure & Christine McClure and great-great aunt of Alani McClure ; treasured friend & sister in Christ to many.
Katie was born January 4, 1943 in Tuskegee, Alabama, where she received her high school education. After moving to Ohio, she became a long-standing member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church under her treasured Reverand Riley, which further cultivated her love of old-school gospel music, particularly Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's. With an optimistic outlook on life, Katie was a favorite among the nursing aids at Menorah Park, from where she retired. If Katie wasn't serving at the church, she was often out looking for deals at garage sales or preparing a delicious meal for family and friends. Known as the matriarch, she was deeply devoted to her family, leaving no question as to how much she loved them. This classy and elegant lady passed away on December 4, 2024. While Katie has left this earth, her legacy will live on forever through her loving family.
