Mrs. Katie Jorden was born on November 18, 1936, in Colia, Mississippi, where she attended the Colia Public School System. In the 1950s, she married the late Jimmie Jorden, Sr. and together they were blessed with eight children.

In 1958, Katie and her family moved to Gibsonton, Florida, where they established their own Farm Labor business. Katie was truly the glue that held her family together. She played a vital role in the family business, faithfully preparing three meals a day for more than 60 people. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother to her eight children and played a significant role in raising many of her grandchildren.

In 1989, she relocated to Ona, Florida, where she continued working alongside her family. She attended New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Limestone, Florida, for several years until it closed.

Katie was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Jimmie Jorden, Sr.; her children, Jimmie Jorden, Jr., Roylee Jorden, Cheri Jorden, and Casey Jorden; her mother, Mary Walker; her sisters, Charlene Dale, Alice Leonard; and brother, John Henry Walker, Jr.

Lasting and loving memories are cherished by: her children, retired Colonel Willie C. Jorden (Wanda) of Lucama, NC, Eddie Jorden (Sonja) of Ona, FL, Macy Caldwell (Mack) of Wimauma, FL, and Henry Jorden of Ona, FL.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Daphne Jones, Toby Jorden, Lawonda Jorden, Damien Jorden, LaTasha McCoy, Antwan Jorden, Corey Jorden, Kevin Jorden, Shakirah Jorden, LaKristian Darden, Veronica Jorden, Ladonya Sweet, Rick Jorden, Latoya Jorden, Micha Caldwell, and Amara Jorden. She is also survived by her dear cousin/sister, Dorothy Hayes, along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at College Hill Church of God in Christ, 6414 N. 30th Street, Tampa, FL 33610.
