Katie Levine 85, of Beaumont, TX; life continued to bloom and blossom until our Lord and Savior called her home on Jun. 13, 2025, at the age of 85 to be with Him.
Services are Saturday, Jun. 28, 2025, at Gospel of Jesus Christ 2575 Wilson St, Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery Beaumont, TX.
THE LIFE
On August 18, 1939, Katie Lee Terry was born in Devers, Texas, to Horace Terry, Sr. and Katherine Alford Terry. The Terry family matriculated to Beaumont, Texas, where Katie attended Martin Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and Charlton Pollard High School, where she graduated in 1957.
On February 6, 1960, Katie married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Levine, Jr. To this union, three children were born: Sandra, Lushine, and Samuel III. Katie and Samuel (Ducey) were married for 64 years. Their love withstood the test of time, and God's contract was honored.
As a child, Katie was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor R.T. Anderson. It was at Mount Gilead Baptist Church where she was baptized, and she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Later in life, she became a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, under the leadership of the late Pastor R.D. Carrington.
As time moved on, Katie was led to unite with Bishop Castile Colbert and The Gospel of Jesus Christ Church. While there, she received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, and she was commissioned as a "Mother" of the church. However, God was not through with her Christian advancement. In 2004, Katie also became a charter member of Divine Truth Community Church under the guidance of her son, Apostle Samuel Levine III. It was at this moment in time when Katie was licensed and ordained as a minister.
THE LADY
Mere words cannot express all of Katie's attributes! She was a lady before her time!
Katie was a licensed cosmetologist and an independent business owner. She was the owner of The Hair Palace beauty salon, which was built by her husband, Samuel Levine, Jr. She was a pioneer in the beauty industry who influenced other hair stylists to also become business owners. In 1972, she was a part of the Pi Chapter Sorority of the Golden Triangle. She was not only a community hair stylist, but she styled many of the students that attended Lamar University. She was a legend, indeed!
Her strong Christian values was a testament of her life. She had strong faith coupled with much prayer! Her life was evident that she believed that God could do anything but fail! She had the receipts to back up her belief! (IYKYK) She was a Kingdom woman!
Katie Levine was an independent, wise lady who shared wisdom nuggets with so many women! Maybe you were sitting in her chair at her beauty salon. Perhaps, you were sitting on a pew at church. Just maybe you were the one who was about to give up, but Katie Levine showed up. She was never at a loss for words. Her counsel was priceless! She didn't "sugarcoat" her words. She told it like it was.
She was the lady of "Say Levine's!" Mrs. Levine greeted you at the door with a smile. Her beautiful smile let you know to come in and have a great experience, if you paid your cover charge! (LOL) In addition to Say Levine's, she and her husband owned real estate properties. Yes, she was a savvy and successful businesswoman!
Mrs. Katie Levine was a very classy lady who was well-dressed and well put together! Was she feisty? Yes! Did she tell you what was on her mind? Yes! She did it with love, sometimes tough love. However, her style of grace was appreciated by many who knew her. She was a one-of-a-kind phenomenal woman! That's who she was!
THE LEGACY
This beautiful flower was carefully chosen and hand-picked by God from earth to glory on June 13, 2025! God was ready for her, and she was ready for Him! There was no doubt in her mind that it was her appointed time to rest from her labor, and now it was time to receive her reward-her crown!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Levine, Jr., her daughter, Sandra Levine, her parents, Horace and Katherine Terry, Sr., her siblings: Horace Terry, Jr., Thelma Lightfoot, Marshall Terry, Elnora Joubert, and Amos Terry, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children: Lushine (Frank) Cormier and Samuel (Jennifer) Levine III, five grandchildren, eight bonus grandchildren, three great grandchildren, seven bonus great grandchildren, one Godchild, a dear sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Her business acumen and successful entrepreneurship uniqueness has left an indelible mark not only on her family, but her influence has had an impact on everyone who has encountered her presence.
Katie will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of being in her company. She will never be forgotten! She will forever live in our hearts!
It's not bye-bye, but we will see you later!!
