James Vance Fowler, 96, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1929, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Callie Ola Woolsey Fowler and Jason George Fowler.

Survivors include his children, Vickie Lynn Fowler of Beaumont, and James Douglas Fowler of Thailand; stepchildren, Brenda Chance and her husband, Ronnie, of Fredericksburg; and Paula Schooley of Porter; step-grandchildren, Robin Chance and her husband, Aly Hakam; Alan Patterson and his wife, Addie, of Cameron; Ruthann Richardson and her husband, Jaz, of Lumberton; Tarah Tumlinson and her husband Charlie, of Evadale; and David Beadle and his wife, Tracy, of Tyler; step-great-grandchildren, Brinley Patterson, Cade Patterson, River Richardson, Michah Sanchez, and Gabe Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ruth Fowler; and stepdaughter, Peggy Brown.

A gathering of Mr. Fowler's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 119 Church Loop, Lumberton. His interment will be 2:00 p.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 618 Block Street, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made in his honor to First Baptist Church of Lumberton, PO Box 8067, Lumberton, Texas 77657.
