Kavin L’Carl Powell, age 39, passed away on December 15, 2025 in Tulia, TX. He was born on February 8, 1986 in Tulia, TX. He graduated from Tulia High School in 2004, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and a love for the outdoors. He had a particular fondness for hunting, often spending joyful days in nature with his greyhounds by his side. Kavin was a dedicated supporter of youth sports in his community, generously donating to programs that helped kids thrive and enjoy the activities he cherished. One of Kavin’s greatest joys was watching his children participate in various sports and activities. His pride in their accomplishments was evident, and he was always their loudest cheerleader. Kavin also had a love for travel, frequently escaping to Las Vegas, which he affectionately referred to as his second home.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, and a beloved son, brother, family member, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him. Kavin was known for his giving heart and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, often ending conversations by asking, “Do you need anything?” That simple question reflected the way he lived his life—always thinking of others first.
He is survived by his loving partner and mother of his children Porsche Hollings; his three children, Kavin Jr, Ka’liana, and Ka’dion; his parents Barbara and O’neal Yarbrough and Jimmie Hendrix, his siblings Robert, Tynisha, Brendon, James, Jacob, Z’aida, Iceland, Zai’brien, Tatianna, Marcus, Quincy, Lucas, Jimietria Hendrix, Reggie Hendrix, J’vona Holiday, Lawrence Hendrix, Billy Joe Kelly, and many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory with them. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Dora White, paternal grandmothers Elizabeth Yarbrough and Mae Lou Hendrix, and brother Clifton Hendrix,
A service to honor and celebrate Kavin’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025 in the First Baptist Church with Elder Joe Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held at 5:30 to 7:30 Sunday, December 28, 2025 in the Kornerstone Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be performed in his memory—helping someone in need, just as he always did. Kavin will be deeply missed and never forgotten. His love, compassion, and generosity will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
